Respiratory Clinics of Eastern Kentucky has been in operation since 1983 and is a charter member of the National Black Lung Coalition .  The clinic strives to minimize the effects of pulmonary impairment not only from coal workers pneumoconiosis  but other pulmonary disorders as well.

The RCEK is under the direction of Dr. Mahmood Alam, MD, certified Pulmonologist with over 15 years of experience in Pulmonary treatment for coal workers pneumoconiosis.




Services offered at the RCEK  include the following:


  • Department of Labor Physicals and Diagnostic Exams

  • NIOSH Certified X-Ray

  • NIOSH Certified B-Reading

  • Spirometry Testing

  • Lung Function Testing

  • Bronchodilator Challenge CPX Testing

  • AACVPR Accredited Pulmonary Rehab

Hours Of Operation

Monday:          8:30 to 5:00

Tuesday :         8:30 to 12:30

Wednesday:    8:30 to 5:00

Thursday:        8:30 to 5:00

Friday:              8:30 to 1:00

On full operating days 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM there will be a lunch break from
